Subject: Lockdown: It's not gloom and doom, because we have Zoom 🏃🏼‍♀️😎

So, we are in lockdown again, but it’s not all doom and gloom. We can still run, and you can still stay connected to your running group!  The simple pleasures....

Hi

Here’s how we are planning to help you keep moving, and connected over the next little while.

  • Zoom running sessions

  • Zoom strength training sessions

  • Pre-recorded interval training sessions

  • Recorded strength training sessions

Zoom Running Sessions

Our running sessions will be conducted over zoom. Yes, sounds a bit weird, but it actually worked pretty well last time. Over 70% of our runners experienced the delights of zoom running.

Here’s a  sample of what went on in our zoom sessions last time.

Here’s how it works

You choose a place to run. A local sports field is good. Be aware that you are not able to exercise with more than `1 other person, so if you choose to go to your usual running session venue, and there are others from your group there, wave and keep your distance. Do not run as a group.

You need your phone and earpods/earphones/earbuds/airpods - whatever you like to call them. They can be wireless or wired. You can even do it without earphones.

At the start of the session you can say a quick hello to the group, and have a chat during the warm up. We found it worked better last time if we put you on mute whilst you were running efforts (all that heavy breathing gets a bit much) and then allowed you to come off mute during the recovery interval.

It’s a great way to stay connected.

Zoom Strength Training Sessions

I’ll be running a couple of strength sessions over zoom during the week. No equipment necessary. A soft surface - carpet or a yoga mat is good, and good to wear shoes because there will be the occasional jumping around

NOTE: You’ll receive a link to all Zoom sessions via our Zoom WhatsApp Group. This is the same group that we used during last lockdown, so if you joined last time, you are already in it - unless you left off course. Here is the link to join the group https://chat.whatsapp.com/JsH5syBIoyQLnhwX7FSA3D

Pre-Recorded Interval Training Sessions

I have opened up access to all our pre-recorded interval training sessions to all our running group members. This access to all the recordings will remain open for the duration of lockdown

Recorded Strength Training Sessions

You now have access to some of our past strength training sessions. This access will remain open for the duration of lockdown. I’ll post new sessions as we do them.

Term 3 Start Date

For our Monday and Wednesday sessions, we still have one more week left of Term 2, whilst the Saturday term finished last week, so due for a day off tomorrow.

Term 3 is due to start Saturday 17th July.

Fingers crossed we have only 1 week in which we need to connect via zoom, but I have a sinking feeling that it might be a week or two more than that. If so, we’ll continue into the start off Term 3 making use of Zoom. I will also set up a couple off challenges to keep things interesting!

Fees

Whilst you’re a running group member, you’ll continue to have access to the Member’s Area, all the recorded strength and running sessions, and either our Zoom sessions or face to face sessions. If you feel this is something you won’t benefit from, please let me know. We can credit you for those sessions we need to hold via Zoom, or I can organise a refund, and we will see you on the other side.
