Subject: A once-in-a-lifetime experience

Hi Friend,

Not that long ago I was on a zoom training where I mentioned that I went to lunch with a Grammy-winning producer and then hung out at the famous Record Plant studios in Hollywood.

“I wish I could do that!” came the chorus of replies from the people on the call.

What if I made that happen?

In fact, what if I took things WAY further?

Imagine going to see ALL the major Hollywood recording studios where so much of music history has been made.

Imagine hanging out face-to-face with Grammy-winning producers, engineers and publishers, where you can pick their brains about how they make their hits.

Imagine getting one of your songs fully mastered by a Grammy-winning mastering engineer, then learning the hippest drum and virtual instrument programming techniques so that your songs can have some of the same magic that the hits do.

These are just SOME of the things planned for the upcoming three day Studio Hollywood event that I’ll be hosting on September 16 through 18.

To make this event as astounding as possible I hired a professional event planner and we dug into the contacts of my 4-decade thick professional network. We designed the event around the idea of “What could 3 days that would change my professional life look like?”

I gave you a teaser of what’s in store for you above, but details are important so here we go. . .

Studio Hollywood Reception Event

On Thursday evening (the night before the event begins) we’ll have dinner and drinks in the Loew’s Hotel H2 Kitchen and Bar, where you’ll get to meet all of your cohorts for the event. Don’t stay up too late because we have a big day tomorrow.

Incredible Day #1

On Friday morning we kick it all off with an astounding Dolby Atmos demonstration in one of the most state of the art immersive audio rooms in the world. This will be presented by Grammy-winner Steve Genewick, who has more experience in immersive music mixing than just about anyone. He’ll show you exactly how it’s done and answer all of your questions.

In the afternoon we travel to Oasis Mastering where you’ll walk away with one of your songs professionally mastered by Grammy-winner Gene Grimaldi, fine-tuned in a room so precise that you can actually hear a 10th of a dB difference. You can watch and learn what a top mastering engineer does, and gain a sonic reference point that you’ll use every day from then on (this is worth the price of the event right there). By the way, I’ll help you with your mix to make sure it’s “mastering ready.” When you’re not in the mastering chair, you can join me in the lounge for some in-depth Q&A and storytelling.

On Friday night we’re off to dinner at a famous Hollywood restaurant where our special guest will be engineer Barry Rudolph, who’s worked with superstars like Rod Stewart, Lynyrd Skynryd and Hall & Oats. Barry has also been the top audio gear reviewer in the world for many years, and he’ll answer all of your audio equipment questions, and tell you some great behind-the-scenes stories as well.

Incredible Day #2

On Saturday morning we see where music magic has been made for over 50 years as we tour some of the most famous recording studios in the world like Sunset Sound, United Recorders and East West (formerly United Western). These are the places where everything from Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” to The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter,” to The Beach Boys “Good Vibrations,” to Led Zep’s “Whole Lotta Love,” to The Doors “Light My Fire,” and hundreds of other classic hits by Van Halen, The Bee Gees, Doobie Bros, Miles Davis, and more were made. Yep, recent ones by Kanye, Doja Cat, Lizzo and Jay-Z too! We'll be welcomed VIPs, walking through doors that would be impossible on any other day.

We’ll also have the rare opportunity to see United’s impressive audio archiving facility in action, where Geoff Emerick protege Bill Smith will show you how he saves ancient master tapes from the dustbin of history.

We cap off the morning seeing some of the legendary musical sights that only Hollywood can offer! It would be malpractice on my part to send you home without seeing them.

In the afternoon we’re off to the cutting-edge Icon Collective for an intensive training session on how to program realistic drum sounds and virtual instruments. Your recordings are about to receive a huge boost as you incorporate the same programming techniques used by the pros to make their samples simultaneously hard-hitting and more realistic. Plus, as a bonus, you’ll receive an excellent sample library with sounds that you can immediately put to use.

On Saturday night we’re off to another famous Hollywood restaurant, this time with our special guest hit-songwriter, Grammy-winning producer and former head of the Independent Music Publishers Association Richard Feldman. Richard will answer all of your songwriting and publishing questions, and tell you some great Bob Marley and Eric Clapton stories along the way.

Incredible Day #3

On Sunday morning we’re back on our tour of recording studio history as we visit more of Hollywood’s famous studios, like Record Plant, Henson Studios (formally A&M) and Westlake Studios. These are the places that everything from the Eagles “Hotel California,” to Lionel Ritchie’s “All Night Long,” to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” (plus hundreds of other hits) were made!

Then we’ll tour Hollywood as we visit must-see landmarks like the Hollywood Sign, Mulholland Drive, Lake Hollywood, the Hollywood Bowl, the Sunset Strip, and a few other surprises along the way.

On Sunday afternoon we’re off to see how both ribbon and classic condenser microphones are made as we tour the Royer Labs and Mojave Audio assembly facilities. Your microphone knowledge will skyrocket as you get a close-up look at what goes on inside. Microphone genius David Royer might even be around to answer your questions. It’s safe to say that you’ll never look at, or use, a microphone in the same way - and that alone can change so much about the results you get from it.

At night we’re off to our farewell dinner at another famous Hollywood restaurant as we have a dinner chat with 18 time Grammy-winning engineer Benny Faccone, plus some other surprise guests.

And that’s not all!

As a bonus, you’ll receive a custom audio plugin bundle from Korneff Audio, as well as a drum sample pack from Beyonce, BTS and Chainsmokers engineer/producer DJ Swivel.

If you think that that can’t be topped, wait until you see some of the surprises that we have lined up that we can’t talk about right now!

When it’s over, imagine what it will be like to go home with a totally new perspective on how the top records - the hits - are really made, because you’ve been there and you’ve seen it. You’ll have a new sonic reference point that will reset the bar for all your productions from now on, some great stories to tell, and the status that only comes with experiencing something that’s not available to almost anyone else.

Like I said, Studio Hollywood is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I doubt that anyone else can replicate. You’ll see some famous studios that never give tours, meet hit-maker engineers and producers, have a song mastered by a Grammy winner, and learn programming skills that are kept secret from the rest of the music industry.

You won’t have to worry about finding a hotelWe have that covered for you and it’s included in the price. You’ll be staying at the centrally-located Loews Hollywood that’s right in the same complex as the Dolby Theater (where the Oscars are held). And it’s right next to the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater with the Hollywood Walk-Of-Fame out the front door. Scrumptious lunches and dinners at some of the coolest places in LA are also included.

Coming to this event is like borrowing a really expensive sports car and I have to make sure that you’ll bring it back without a scratch.

I know you will, but because some of the places that we’ll go to are crazy concerned with security, I owe it to them to make sure everyone is cool and won’t run off with a hard drive or microphone, so I ask you to fill out an application so we’re sure you’re a fit. I am personally curating this list to make sure that, just like a perfect mix, this experience is unforgettable.

With that said, I have to warn you - it’s an expensive event. Making all this happen isn’t cheap or easy, but you already knew that.

And it’s pretty exclusive. We’re limiting it to only 10 spots so that you have the best experience. A couple are committed already so it’s best to hurry if you’re interested.

With that in mind, here’s the link. . .Studio Hollywood Application

Go apply now because it’s first come, first serve.

See you in LA!

Bobby
