Over the last 20+ years of helping teachers build summer programs, I’ve noticed something.

The stress around summer is rarely about “camp.”

It’s about everything underneath it.

I’ve heard the same fears over and over from studio owners:

“What if I build this and no one signs up?”
“What if families just take the whole summer off?”
“What if I lose students and they don’t come back?”
“What if my income drops and I can’t cover payroll?”
“What if I run a camp and it feels like a gamble?”
“What if I market it wrong?”
“What if my market just doesn’t support camps?”
“What if I don’t have the staff?”
“What if I don’t have the space?”
“What if I create something and it doesn’t actually deliver?”

And then there are the quieter thoughts:

“Summer gets harder the bigger my studio gets.”

“I don’t want to start over in the fall.”

I’ve had those thoughts myself.

And I’ve watched hundreds of studio owners wrestle with them.
