SECRET SALE!

It's been some time since we had our last Secret Sale, so we decided to have one on Saturday June 24th!

For those of you who are new to the newsletter, this means that you may take 15% off of everything that is not food.

DON'T FORGET: IT'S A SECRET JUST FOR OUR NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS! This means you have to let your Cashier know you're in on the secret, or you might not get your discount. Just give them a little nod or a wink to let them know you're in on it!
Of course you can certainly bring friends in who aren't on our newsletter, and if they sign up for the newsletter, they can enjoy their discount as well.

We consider "food" to be complete diets (Like a bag of kibble or freeze dried meals, as we already keep our margins as slim as possible for your foods). The discount can be used for treats, toys, stocking up on supplements, leashes, bones and other chewies, etc.  We have these sales to say thank you to our community for your support, and for choosing a locally owned, independent store over the big box stores and those that copy this model while still being a big chain store.
We hope it's a way for you to save some money on the products you love, and to help you be able to stock up on things you need like litter or fish oils, etc., or maybe a pretty new collar!
BEWARE OF FOXTAILS!

This is the time of year that we start hearing nasty stories of pets having trouble with foxtails
We’ve already been getting reports of dogs having serious troubles with foxtails (one pup had a foxtail embedded in her salivary gland). It’s a problem each spring and summer and can potentially become a serious harm to your pet. To read more, Please check out this link , or go to our blog and search for “Beware of Foxtails” to read about what to look for, and a few home remedies if the foxtail is visible. Please go to the emergency clinic (like Blue Pearl in Hollywood) or your vet if you see your pet shaking their head or scratching their ear, as there could be a foxtail in there, or if they are pawing or rubbing their eyes or nose, there could be one in there too, or embedded between their pads, or even into a vulva, etc or other places with folds. Foxtails can migrate and cause very serious health problems.
NOW IS THE TIME TO GET READY FOR  JULY 4TH!

The 4th of July is a tough time for many pets, so come in now to check out our calming aids. It's important to test them out ahead of time to make sure they respond to them well, and to get an idea of what sort of dosage that will help them on the big day (and often for several days before or after the 4th.
Here's a link with more important safety tips! Talk to us when you're in. We can help you choose the best thing for your pet!
SHOW OFF YOUR CATIO!
What is a catio? A catio is a way for cats to be able to be outside without being able to be killed by a coyote, hit by a car, or decimating our native bird population. (Researchers estimate that one pet cat kills one to 34 birds a year, while a feral cat kills 23 to 46 birds annually. Outdoor cats kill between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds a year, says a recent study.
Every year, the Feral Cat Coalition holds a Catio Tour , where you can see a variety of clever catios, some big like in this photo, and some small. We're talking about building a small catio for Walter that connects to his favorite window for birdwatching. mark your calendar for Saturday Sept 9th and get your tickets early!

Walter would like to remind you that it's going to get hot soon, so be careful with dog and cat toes on hot pavement and stick to early morning walks if the roads and sidewalks are too hot to leave your hand on there for a short time. Walter's leash walks will be early mornings for sure. :)

Thanks to all of you that support our independently owned small business vs.chain stores and also supporting other small businesses in town that you love!
