Subject: SUMMER SALE!!

 Happy Pride!

We've had a lovely stormy spring this year, but summer is rolling in fast. Make sure you're prepared for adventures, fireworks, and toasty evenings! Read on for details about our June sale, a special Q&A we're hosting this month, and an update on the PBOT Plaza Project.

SALE JUNE 13th!!

15% off everything (excludes full diets) on June 13th!

Details About The Sale:
- This is not a Secret Sale - you need not be sneaky at the register to get your discount, just come on in and stock up! Everyone is welcome, of course!

- What counts as "food" for the sale? Complete diets that you’d put in a bowl for dinner are food. Even though treats and chews can be eaten, they’re still eligible for the sale!

- Why no food on sale? We already keep our margins as slim as possible for your foods! The discount can be used for treats, toys, supplements, leashes, bones and other chewies, etc.  We have these sales to say thank you to our community for your support, and for choosing a locally owned, independent store!

In Store Q&A!!

We are excited to announce a very special in store Q&A  June 23rd 6pm-8pm with two stars in the holistic pet field, Dr. Keith Weingardt and Billy Hoekman

Dr. Keith has been a long time friend to Green Dog, plus he is one of our favorite holistic vets! Many of our tips and tricks are inspired by his practice, and many of our customers with complex issues have found results with his consultation.

Billy Hoekman is in charge of nutrition, formulation, and much more at Green Juju, and has many years of experience in the pet food industry. He often participates in national and international pet expert panels. His products are of the highest quality and are extremely healthy for your pets!

On June 23 from 6pm - 8pm, we will have a free Q&A. Please RSVP HERE, to help us prepare enough seating. You do NOT need an RSVP or ticket to enter. And prepare your questions...these guys will be hard to stump! They are happy to take questions about Green Juju, nutrition, holistic medicine, regulation, AAFCO, FDA, or anything you can think of!

Get a free pint of Green Juju goats milk with your attendance!

Dr. Weingardt has many years of experience working as an emergency and critical care veterinarian before studying holistic modalities. He has a strong knowledge base of conventional veterinary medicine which he combines with appropriate holistic modalities to help each individual achieve optimal health. Dr. Weingardt is skilled at looking at the big picture and finding what works best for each individual animal and their people. Although he will prescribe medications when necessary if he has seen the patient in person, he focuses on using nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture and homeopathy to encourage the patient’s innate healing ability.

Billy Hoekman is Vice President of Nutrition and Formulation for Green Juju. He is involved in formulation, product development, running the veterinarian program, working with farmers, science education, and sales and marketing. He participates frequently in expert panels and speaks nationally and internationally. He has served on the board of directors for multiple organizations, attends AAFCO meetings, and has numerous published articles. He is a trusted pet health advocate that specializes in turning hard to understand nutrition concepts into plain English. He lives in Lancaster Pennsylvania with his wife Emily, their daughter Maple, and their dog Huckleberry.

Plaza Update

We wanted to say thank you for all the support we received during the neighborhood plaza debate. We really appreciate those that attended meetings, emailed on our behalf (for Blackbird Wine as well), and showed support for local business concerns.

The plaza project was voted in by both the BBA and BWNA, as a temporary three-month trial run. There will be further discussion after the trial to decide whether or not to go forward with a permanent plaza.  This trial will start on June 27th.

The plaza will take away most of the diagonal parking spaces on NE 44th, and thru traffic will no longer be allowed. PBOT has decided to leave the last two parking spaces (those closest to our side door) for public use. To get to those spots, you will need to come from the north side of NE 44th, where Beech intersects with it. Please note that these parking spaces are not designated for any particular business, so we can't guarantee that they will be available.

We understand that with all the new housing developments, the new food carts, and the plaza, it is now harder than ever to find a parking spot to shop with us. There will be a bit of an adjustment and we hope you still stick with us as customers. We want to support the needs of our amazing customers as best we can, so if you are planning on a large purchase, or picking up heavy items, and parking is a concern, please email us or call ahead of time so we can work out a plan for pick up. If you end up shopping with us and it's too much to carry to where your car is parked, please let us know and we will help get it to your car or have you pull around to our side door for pick up. Please be patient with us while we figure out the best way to adjust!! Thank you again for your support.

We hope the plaza will be a success and provide increased food traffic and support for the surrounding businesses. If you find yourself hanging out at the plaza, don't forget to stop by and say hi!

Foxtail/Cheatgrass

Foxtails are growing fast, now is the time to pull them before they drops seeds! Don't let them get brown and hurt your pet! Foxtail and cheat grass seeds can cause ear, eye, and paw infections...sometimes bad enough to kill pets. The grass barbs work their way through the skin and eventually into the chest cavity, spine, or organs.

Here are a few signs to look out for if one does get embedded: inflammation, redness, constant scratching, limping, and frequent licking of paws. Try to keep your dog from spending time in fields with weeds and wild grasses. After time outdoors, always check your pet for barbs. Brushing their coat thoroughly and looking for signs of irritation in your pet can help prevent issues.

Thanks to one of our customers for sharing this helpful guide on removing these pesky plants. Follow this guide to remove them for good.
