If you're new to our newsletter, welcome! Last year we were only doing curbside pickup during December, which made for a challenging Secret Sale! I'd rather eat a handful of Bumble Bees than have to go to curbside again this year - please pray that Oregon's numbers stay reasonable!
In years past, we would have one big day of Christmas Secret Sale, and it was mayhem. It was fun at the time, but we're not into mayhem these days, so we're giving you a full week to take advantage of your sale at your leisure.
What's a Secret Sale?It's a sale only offered to our email newsletter subscribers. Here's how it works: - PICK ONE SECRET SALE DAY, between November 30th- Sunday Dec 5th and come in.
- You can take 15% off of any regularly priced item that's not food. "Food" means a complete diet that you might put in your pet's bowl for dinner. This includes kibble/dry food, raw foods, and some freeze dried meals and dehydrated foods. These items are not on sale.
- All other regularly priced items are on sale! All Treats, all Toys including Christmas, all Chews, Cat Scratchers, all Supplements, a cozy new Bed, Collars, Leashes, Puzzles, Treat Pouches, Harnesses, Poop bags, Shampoos, Stain and Odor Cleaners, Toothpaste, Rain Coats, etc, all in sale! If it's a product that you know you go through, like a joint supplement, fish oil, etc, it's a smart idea to stock up and save some money! Want a case of Whimzees sticks or a 10# box of bulk cookies, etc for 15% off? Let us know very soon and we'll order it for you!

Adorable Toys and yummy treats are popping up all over the store. Apparently it’s just in time too, as people are showing us that the things we were reading about retail trends this year are true.INSIDER TIP: PEOPLE ARE SHOPPING EARLY THIS YEAR!
Industry messaging on the internet says, "Mix rising costs, low supply due to supply chain issues, and shoppers' anxiety about finding the right gifts, and the holiday season could quickly become a stressful shopping experience if you put it off". We've really noticed that trend in our store, which is why we made the Secret Sale ASAP so you'd still have a good selection! |
| | | SEASON'S FEEDINGS CONTINUES!
For the month of December, we'll be selling bags of dog food to be donated to The Pongo Fund. They work tirelessly to reduce shelter populations and keep families together by providing emergency pet food assistance to anyone in honest need. it's an amazing volunteer-driven organization that also deploys their mobile animal hospital (staffed with vet volunteers) in times of need. Small bags of First Mate Grain Friendly are $9, and big bags are $31. This is our cost, so we will make no profit on these donations. For every 6 bags we sell, First Mate will give us a free one! Like with November's cat food drive, Each small bag you purchase will enter you in a drawing for a $25 Green Dog Gift Certificate, and every large bag will get you two entries! Add a bag to your next purchase, or call to donate over the phone. |
| | | TRAILBLAZING TAILS LEASHES!
These are some of our very favorite items in the store. They're made right down the road by an amazing trainer turned entrepreneur. Made of Biothane (a grippy soft rubber that feels like broken-in leather) and high-end brass fittings, these leashes have an adjustable tab that allows you to wear the leash cross-body, around the waist, or held in the middle to walk two dogs. They can also be used as a tether.
Are you teaching your puppy to come when called? The 20 ft long lines are super for working on a solid recall. They can be dragged through the muddy woods or the surf and you can just rinse them right off. We're waiting on a big order from them (which will include her new small dog leashes) and hope some of it will be in soon. You can even look at her website if you'd like to special order anything on there (we'd give you a raincheck for the sale price).

This is a big, attractive, sturdy cat bed/scratching pad with the right amount of room for playing. scratching, or curling up for a nap. It makes a nice Christmas present for your favorite cat owner. |
| | | FLUFF AND TUFF SNOWFLAKE!
Fluff and Tuff is one of our favorite toy companies. We've always recognized the value of Durability when it comes to our definitions of what sustainability looks like. Stuffed animals are a challenge as far as durability goes, but Fluff and Tuff has raised the bar for a tough but still cuddly soft toy. They do this by lining the entire toy with an added layer of chew resistant mesh, and then double stitching every seam. Whether it's an adorable penguin, a sloth, a dinosaur, or a trout, they are all remarkably beloved by dogs. I think the beautiful holiday reindeer and the giant teddy bears are going to go quickly this year!
The Snowflake is not only pretty, soft, and a great Hanukkah gift, it helps dogs all over the country! Each year since 2013, they've designed a festive limited-edition Holiday Charity Toy and donated 100% of their profits from the sale of the Holiday Charity Toy to various shelters, organizations, and causes that supply food to dogs in shelters and rescues. |

Please Welcome Maggie!
We finally found a fabulous candidate with an amazing amount of experience doing the things we do. Maggie worked with our friends over at Salty's Pet Supply, which has similar products and support for their customers. In this job we're always learning new things all the time, so starting someone from scratch is a daunting proposition. We can't wait to get to know her better and meet her little Pittie Mix Morty! We hope you'll say hello to her and introduce her to your pets!
Another great event behind the scenes: We were so happy to offer Charity a promotion to "Purchase and Inventory Manager", acknowledging all the very hard extra work she puts in helping to keep our numbers accurate, finding deals to save us money, making sure we're getting our credits properly, etc. She recently celebrated her 4th anniversary with us, and we're grateful to have her (and her sunny disposition and dedication) as part of our amazing staff.
Next week help us say Happy 3rd Anniversary to Lis, the colorful and funny super-mom. Did you know she has 4 teenage boys, 2 of them twins? Their household is a busy place with 2 dogs, a rabbit, and a new kitten. She comes to us with amazing artistic talent, and we're so lucky to have such beautiful signage as a result.
