Subject: Why Are We Still Building Businesses Like It's 2015?

Technology has changed dramatically. Why are so many entrepreneurs still piecing together businesses the same old way?
It's a question I've been asking myself lately.

With everything that's changed over the past decade—artificial intelligence, automation, mobile technology, cloud computing, and communities that span the globe—you'd think building an online business would have become dramatically simpler.

In many ways, it has.

But in one important way...

It has become much more complicated.

Think about the average entrepreneur today.

They have a website.

A landing page builder.

An email platform.

A CRM.

A calendar.

A course platform.

A community platform.

Social media accounts.

AI tools.

Automation software.

Analytics dashboards.

Payment processors.

Scheduling software.

Video platforms.

Membership systems.

None of these are bad tools.

In fact, many of them are excellent.

The problem isn't the quality of the tools.

The problem is that we're expected to become system integrators just to run a business.

Somewhere along the way, we accepted the idea that success meant collecting more software.

Every new challenge seemed to require another subscription.

Another login.

Another integration.

Another monthly payment.

Another learning curve.

Instead of simplifying our businesses, we've quietly made them more complicated.

I've lived through this myself.

After decades online, I've used more platforms than I can remember.

Some disappeared.

Some were acquired.

Some changed direction.

Some simply stopped serving the people they were built for.

Every time it happened, entrepreneurs like us were forced to adapt.

To rebuild.

To migrate.

To start over.

At some point, I stopped asking...

"What's the next tool I need?"

And started asking a much better question...

"Why are we building businesses this way in the first place?"

What if the future isn't about adding another piece of software?

What if it's about creating a stronger foundation where everything works together?

What if the goal isn't simply to generate more traffic...

...but to create a place where people actually want to stay?

That's the direction my thinking has taken over the past several years.

It's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about a hub-centric approach to online business.

Not because it's different for the sake of being different.

But because I believe entrepreneurs deserve something better than constantly patching together disconnected systems.

Technology should reduce complexity.

Not create more of it.

The tools will continue to evolve.

Artificial intelligence will continue to evolve.

Marketing strategies will continue to evolve.

But one principle won't change:

Businesses that are built on a strong foundation will always have an advantage over businesses held together by duct tape.

Maybe the question isn't...

"What's the next marketing strategy?"

Maybe the better question is...

"Am I building a business that's ready for the next ten years—or am I still building like it's 2015?"

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Has running your online business become simpler over the years... or more complicated?
