IT STARTS WITH YOU (OR, DON'T BE A HATER)
Dear Friends:

No matter what are our current circumstances there are simple truths that adds up more than we might ever want to admit when looking at our chances of success or failure - essential things that must be a part of daily rituals and routines. You could make the case about any of these that, "It's Academic!" and as a result there is really no need to cover these things again.

And, yet, we know that over the next few weeks, as students go back to school, they will discover that in the short break known as summer some very helpful attitudes and practices that contributed to success in prior years have faded away when no longer part of the routine of life.

For the rest of the month of August, we are going to dive into three of these truths that have the potential to truly and completely transform our lives and the lives of those around us. This Sunday, we begin with, "IT STARTS WITH YOU (or, DON'T BE A HATER.)"

Come join us and bring a friend as we not only explore these words but also having our annual Blessing of the Backpacks as we send children's, teachers, and administrators back to school AND welcome officially the newest member of our ministry staff!

Grace and Peace, Lamar
SCRIPTURE LESSON
Ephesians 4:25-5:2
So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another.

Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil. Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labor and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy.

Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.

Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Prayer is a crucial way for us to experience God’s grace. Jesus used The Lord's Prayer to teach all disciples about how to communicate with God. Christians also order their lives around their relationships with each other, and these relationships are strengthened through personal and corporate prayer with God. The Lord's Prayer is a template for how to bring our needs, concerns, and challenges to God, who cares for each of us.

As always, there is no charge for any of our bible study books. However, should you want to reimburse the church for the cost of your book they are $10 each, and available in the church office!
