Happy Friday, Friend,
There are moments in this business when you just have to… pause.
Take a breath.
And question your life choices.
Yesterday was one of those moments.
A customer brought in a serger. Still in the original box.
“Hasn’t been used in years,” she said.
No problem, we thought. We’ll get it cleaned up and running.
We opened the box…
Everything looked normal.
We opened the machine…
…and y’all.
Apparently, this serger had not been “stored.”
It had been leased.
To a full-blown family of tiny, industrious squatters.
We’re talking:
Nesting materials tucked neatly around the motor
Decorative fluff in places fluff should never be
And wiring that had clearly been repurposed as:
I stood there staring at it thinking…
“Well. They seem happy.”
Unfortunately… the machine was not.
At that point, it’s no longer a service.
It’s an archaeological dig.
And the hard truth?
Sometimes there’s just no saving it.
Now before you side-eye your sewing room…
Let me say this:
This doesn’t happen overnight.
This is what happens when a machine sits for years without use or maintenance.
Which is exactly why we always say:
👉 Service your machines regularly
👉 Even if you’re not using them every day
👉 ESPECIALLY if they’ve been sitting
Because we would much rather:
Clean out lint…
Than evict a tiny civilization.
If you’ve got a machine that’s been:
Bring it in.
Let’s make sure the only thing living inside it…
is thread.

P.S. Who's ready to schedule a machine service????
