Subject: I made a tiny… microscopic… decision

Happy Friday, Friend,

Yesterday, I made a decision.

A very small decision.

So small… you could say it was practically microscopic.

And yet…

it has now turned into a full-scale life event.

I was working on a beautiful shop sample—feeling good, confident, in the zone.

You know that feeling…

when everything is smooth, your stitches are behaving,
and you start thinking:

“This is going to turn out SO pretty.”

(There it is again.)

I was outlining the border blocks—nice, normal stitch per inch… everything clean, everything crisp.

Then I switched gears.

Reduced the SPI.
Went into microquilting mode.

Tiny stitches.
Delicate texture.

The kind that makes you step back and go, “Ohhhh that’s pretty.”

First triangle?
Perfect.

Second triangle?
Also perfect.

And then…

Well…

Let’s just say I got a little too confident.

Because instead of skipping the next triangle like I was supposed to…

I just kept right on stitching.

Like I was on a mission.

Like there were no consequences.

Like the quilting police weren’t watching.

Finished the section…
leaned back…
admired my work…

…and immediately knew.

You know that feeling, right?

Where your brain goes:

“Something’s not right.”

But your heart says:

“Don’t look. Just don’t look.”

I looked.

Well shooty pooty.

There it was.

One perfectly, beautifully… completely WRONG triangle.

Now normally, ripping stitches is just part of quilting life.

Annoying? Yes.

Necessary? Also yes.

But this?

These are micro stitches.

These aren’t just stitches.

These are tiny little commitment decisions made one after another.

Thousands of them.

And now… I have to undo them.

One.
By.
One.

So what am I doing right now?

Well…

Let’s just say I’ve suddenly found a deep appreciation for:

  • reorganizing things

  • answering emails

  • checking inventory

  • possibly learning a new hobby

Anything…
other than dealing with that triangle.

But here’s the truth we all know:

At some point…
I’m going to sit down…
take a deep breath…
and start picking out those stitches.

Because the quilt deserves it.

And honestly?

We’ve all been here.

The moment where you KNOW what needs to be done…

…and you just need a minute (or a few hours… or a day…) to mentally commit.

So if you’ve ever:

  • stitched something perfectly wrong

  • avoided your project like it offended you

  • or stared at a seam thinking “not today…”

You’re in very good company.

Now tell me…

Have you ever had to rip out MICRO quilting?

I need to know I’m not alone before I face this triangle.

— Donna

P.S. If you have a faster way to remove micro stitches… I’m all ears.
