Hello Friend,

This week I traded in my usual longarm adventures for something brand new: I enrolled in a 3-day Baby Lock Serger class on Zoom.

Yes, that means me + my Baby Lock Triumph = eight threads, countless stitches, and enough specialty feet to make me wonder if I need a pilot’s license. ✈️

The first day, I sat down with coffee in hand, ready to roll. Within minutes, my screen looked like a NASA control panel—everyone holding up fabric samples, instructors talking about cover stitches, chain stitches, rolled hems… and me thinking, “Wait, this machine has how many needles?”

Day two, I started to catch on. (Let’s just say my Triumph and I are learning to trust each other.) I even managed a few beautiful seams without accidentally serging my sample to the instruction sheet. Progress!

And here’s the fun part: once we finish going through all the stitches and feet, I’ll get to make a project. If I don’t knot myself into a pretzel first, I’ll come out the other side with… drumroll, please… a certificate! 🎓

So if you see me strutting around the shop soon, it won’t just be because my serger can whip up a perfect edge—it’s because I’m now a “certified survivor” of the 8-thread Triumph.

Moral of the story? Quilters never stop learning. Sometimes we’re students, sometimes we’re teachers, and sometimes we’re just trying not to serge our pajama sleeves to the sample fabric on a Zoom call. (Not that I’d know from personal experience… 🙃)

Happy Stitching & Happy Friday,
Donna

P.S. Thinking about diving into serging yourself? We’ve got Baby Lock sergers and classes waiting for you—you don’t even need coffee IVs or Zoom panic buttons (I tested them for you).
