Subject: Cortisol levels drop after 269 hours and 55 minutes...

That's almost 12 full days...
Hey Food Slayer!

Whew...I have to just say thank you all for your patience. As you will find out (more details in the episode), I was out of power, heat, water and of course, internet for almost 12 days, due to a very severe ice storm. It was cray, cray!

After calling the power company EVERYDAY, a visit from the Sheriff (wellness check on Day 10), a visit from the local Fire Department (on Day 11), and stalking the repairmen at my neighbor's place, our power was finally restored.

After many cold, wet and dark nights, as you can imagine, cortisol levels were sky high, and the stress level was off the charts. I was experiencing the true "fight or flight" stress response. Luckily, I have a great surrounding local community and I have you! Thank you for those of you who checked in.

If this is news to ya, no worries, but I hope you listen in to this episode and share it with someone you love, 'cuz we are ALL stressed from time to time and that can impact our hormonal imbalance. Check out the full episode here :

Thanks for being here...let's keep the conversation going so we can all have clean, healthy food on our plates!
Meet Dr. Dixie Short, aka Dr. Dee! I invited her to the show to talk about hormones, and what a timely topic - given my most recent, real-life experience in an emergency, "survival" situation. I'll save the story about how I almost had to "lay the smackdown" on an employee at Home Depot over the last generator (after having all generators within 50 miles sold out for the first week of this debacle), but let's just say....I got the generator on Day 9 - without a fight or flight! :)

Anyway, in this episode, Dr. Dee talks about balancing hormones, specifically estrogen and cortisol with the help of "food as medicine".

You probably know that stress is one of THE most common factors underlying many diseases, and is one of the most common causes of death. I swear, I think I definitely aged a little bit since mid February.

The good news is, one of the best parts of this interview is when Dr. Dee talks about how we can look for pre-imbalance indicators, before things fall apart. If you know what to look for, then you can diminish suffering if you spring into action. :)

Speaking of Spring....here's a couple of links to check out after you listen to the episode.

Dr. Dee offers a bunch of freebies on her website, which you can check out here. Also, I will be sending you a list of my top 10 things that saved my buns this week (along with a short video), so that should you ever find yourself in a situation like I was in (I'm talking to you, Texans), you'll be prepared. They are affiliate links, so if you purchase anything from the list, you'll be supporting me and this show!

Thanks in advance and take good care, y'all.

See you on the other side of the plate!

Chow,
Michele
