Subject: Finally, Spring!

Paddle Trips of 2022

It's that time again! Time to start dusting off your boat, sharpening your paddles (just kidding) and planning for some summer splash. Friends of the Middle River's (FOMR) full season of trips is available to look over HERE, and registration is open now for the first trip only. Each trip's registration will open a few weeks prior to the paddle.

Our first paddle this year will be for slightly more experienced paddlers and take on the upstream colder springtime waters of Middle River in the beautiful Eagle Rock area. You can read about and register for the Eagle Rock Upstream Paddle trip HERE!

Earth Day and Riverfest

Volunteers Needed

April is a busy month for educating Augusta County citizens about rivers, and there are two local festivals: Earth Day Staunton and Riverfest.

FOMR needs volunteers for both events. (We also want attendees, if that is more your style!) There are a lot of different things you can do to help, from setting up chairs to helping with live insects and fish to selling raffle tickets, and much more! If you can help for a few hours at either event, please indicate what you'd be willing to help out with on our volunteer signup form HERE! Deadline to sign up to volunteer is April 5.

Earth Day Staunton--with Kites & Critters: Saturday, April 23, 11am-4pm

Riverfest: Saturday, April 30, 9am-4:30pm

New Board Member

While you weren't looking, we snuck another person onto the FOMR Board of Directors. Pete Barlow brings his passion and expertise to recruiting new landowners to participate in our River Access Program. Welcome, Pete!

E. coli Results in February

The lower Middle River stretch we are monitoring this year continues to have very low levels of E. coli throughout...which we can be very thankful for. If this were baseball, we would be pitching a no-hitter for this whole project (no high E. coli readings).
