FOMR at Stuart Hall Elementary

Stuart Hall elementary school students, a stream and nets -- the perfect components for a Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE). The need for such experiences in school biology classes was included as an objective to the 1987 Chesapeake Bay Agreement between the states. Fishing Float Trip
We still have some room in our next float trip scheduled for June 8. Sign up HERE!
  • Meet at: 9:00am
  • River: 2.9 miles of Middle River, on the lower part of the river.
  • Cost: $10 per person, which covers insurance through the American Canoe Association.
  • (Backup Raindate: Sunday, June 9 )
This is a trip where we will take our time floating down the river and fishing along the way in a stretch that is known to be good angling! You will need to purchase fishing licenses in advance at https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/.

If you do not want to fish, this is NOT the trip for you.

Blues & Brews

Okay, it's true. We like festivals. What says "summer" more than sun, paddle sports, outdoor live music, and maybe a cold adult beverage?

Yep, FOMR will be at the Blues & Brews Music Festival on July 20, 2-9pm, at the Club at Ironwood, 62 Country Club Circle, Staunton. We'll hope to see you there.

Photo Request!
FOMR is working towards launching a new website!  We are now searching to collect the best photos of Middle River and her tributaries that exist in the recesses of our members' computers. Especially needed are beautiful scenic river photos, but of course we'd like to see any shots you feel capture some special time engaging with the River, micro to macro! Please email any digital photos you'd like for us to consider to info@friendsofthemiddleriver.org
