In 1706 an astronomer travelled to India to watch the planet Venus pass through the night sky.

Poor sailing conditions coupled with terrible winds blew his ship off course causing him to miss the key dates he needed to be there.

Undeterred, he decided to stay in India for 8 more years until the next date Venus would be visible…

But on the day Venus was supposed to be visible, the skies clouded over…

Meaning he didn’t get to see Venus.

He decided to return home.

But when he got home he found out that he’d been legally declared dead. Been replaced in his job by his boss. His wife had remarried and his entire family plundered his estate for everything they could.

It seems to me that waiting for the perfect time to see Venus ended up costing him much more than he bargained for.

It’s like that in business, too.
