Subject: Good shop, bad shop

Hi Friend,

How are you? Hope your 2017 is off to a good start.

So me, the hubster and the bambino have been enjoying some quality time in Thailand. We are out here for 2 months (I missed the whole gap year travelling thing when I was younger and I just couldn't let it go! Cue the sad violin!).

We spent yesterday morning at a Thai cookery school which was amazing... there'll be some authentic Thai recipes when we get home which we'll be adding to our membership offering. With so many fresh ingredients and great flavours, we're sure your clients will love to try them!

And although we are having a great time, there is one thing we struggle with regarding the town we are currently staying in..

On a certain street, on route to our favourite beach, is a long row of shops... with a concentration of suit sellers.

You may be familiar with the scenario. (If you're not, you're lucky!)

Where the shop owner will stand outside his shop all day long and try and stop you as you walk past.

'Buy my stuff buy my stuff!'

There's no 'getting to know you' phase. No genuine exchanges. No relationship building, or know, like and trust.

Just pushing immediately for a sale.

And they all use the same lines and outdated sales techniques.

'Where you from 'bro? Oh Northants, really? My brother lives there'

Hmmm really?? What a small world!

And you know what? In the whole 10 days we've been here, we've not seen ONE SINGLE CUSTOMER inside any of these shops.

We can't figure out what these guys live on.

And all those hours they spend standing outside their shop, day and night... means they can't have much time for relationships. Dread to think how much time they spend with their wife and kids?

Hopefully you can see what I'm trying to say here.

And by the way, our preferred way of building up know, like and trust with our clients is through good old email.

We've been using it for a few years and got to know a great many people this way.

Have a great weekend!

Naomi
