Subject: ⭐ Chimps. Crabs and Buckets 🐒 🦀

Hi Friend

In the 1930s, two psychologists adopted a baby chimpanzee and tried to raise her alongside their baby boy to see if this caused the chimp to learn humanlike behaviour.

After nine months they stopped the experiment because their son started behaving more like a chimp.

Nine months and the superior intelligence mammal started reverting to its primal routes. The lowest common denominator.

This reminds me of the Crabs in a Bucket analogy.

When multiple crabs are placed inside a bucket, they will try to escape. When one crab is close to freedom, another crab will grab hold of it and pull it down again.

So it’s stuck in the bucket again with the rest of the crabs.

The Crabs in a Bucket story is one of my favourites because you see the same behaviours in humans.

There are people you might have in your circle who tell you they want to win, yet secretly they want you to lose.

They’re the people who keep asking you to join them in behaviours you might have reduced or stopped altogether.

The thing is, your clients have the same experiences with these kinds of people daily.

They try to get them to make poor food choices when they’ve started to eat healthier and lose a bit of weight.

Those people aren’t inherently bad. They don’t want to see them fail because they don’t like them.

It scares them that they’re brave enough to seek out more. It reminds them they could do the same yet they don’t.

What can you do to help those clients beat the crabs away?
