Friend,
Previously I had shared with you an article about how no home is perfect. Today I want to share with you how my home isnât perfect.
For years, I've been trying to solve a design challenge in my own home. I've rearranged rooms, repurposed spaces, and continually adapted as our family moved through different stages of life.
Some solutions worked beautifully for a season, supporting exactly what we needed at the time. But as our needs changed, I found myself searching for new ways to adapt. Most recently, our adult sons moved out, and suddenly the spaces that had worked for years no longer felt quite right.
Then one day I watched a television program featuring a homeowner on the other side of the world, living in a very small space.
What I saw completely changed the way I thought about flexibility, furniture, and the relationship between a home and the people who live in it.
The solution I eventually came up with was simple, inexpensive, and surprisingly effective.
In my newest Substack article, I share the story, the inspiration behind it, and what happened when I decided to experiment with my own home.
