When I moved to the U.S. from Ecuador, I kept hearing the same phrase whenever I visited someone’s home:
“Sorry for the mess — I’m not Martha Stewart!”
At first, I didn’t even know who she was. But eventually, I watched her show… and let’s just say I had some very real experiences trying to follow her advice (including a headboard hack that literally collapsed on my house guest).
But here’s what I’ve learned over the years:
You don’t need perfect linen folds or monogrammed towels to love your home. You need warmth. Intention. And maybe a really great cordless vacuum.
