More specifically, they each sell a version of the same ideal: Fitness: You need to look a certain way (lean, toned, “visible abs”) to be truly healthy or worthy. Self-help: You need to earn a multiple six-figure income to be considered successful — and if you don’t, it’s because of your mindset or lack of effort. Home design: You need a picture-perfect, luxury home to feel proud, happy, or accomplished.
Underneath it all is a subtle, harmful lie: You’re behind. You’re lacking. You need more. And it’s your fault.
What can you do?
