Dear Families,
A number of years ago, the Advanced Training Institute offered the outstanding music course Sound Foundations. When I was younger, I saw the course listing and eagerly awaited the day I would be old enough to attend. During the program, the instructors challenged my strengths and gave excellent training to improve my areas of weakness. Now, fifteen years later, I realize that those three weeks at Sound Foundations better equipped me in serving in the many music ministry opportunities I have engaged in since then.

| | From July 15–August 3, 2019, we are offering the same premium Sound Foundations learning experience in Big Sandy, Texas. Students will have the opportunity to take classes on music theory and music history along with an in-depth course in hymnology. Young people will also receive training on song writing, complete with musical notation instruction. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to conduct an orchestra or ensemble and then practice conducting their fellow musicians. The hymn arrangements written during the course will be tried with the instrumentation available. Other classes include: leading church music; vocal instruction in choir; master class for piano and strings; piano pedagogy tips; how to lead a children's choir; the why of music; and how to write your own Scripture songs. |
| The final week of Sound Foundations will run concurrently with our second Big Sandy Family Conference. Families who attend this Family Conference will be able to observe the final orchestra and music recitals that conclude the Sound Foundations course.
