Dear Families,

For many years, people around the world have enjoyed the real-life stories of Otto Koning, a missionary to a jungle tribe in New Guinea. His stories meet many individuals right where they are: in the challenges and struggles of everyday life. In this Message of the Month, from the Legacy of Faith: Otto Koning series, Otto tells of a major struggle he faced in his early years on the mission field.
When he arrived in New Guinea, Otto was surprised at the villagers’ habit of stealing. He became irritated as his possessions began to disappear. Village mothers even used his pineapple garden as a training ground for their children! For months, Otto tried various methods to stop the thieves including reprimanding the villagers, closing the trade store, and even getting a watchdog.

Listen as Otto describes the frustration he experienced as he tried to solve the problem his own way and the joy he found as he began to follow God’s ways. We trust you will be encouraged and challenged as you listen to this lesson in conquering anger from a missionary to New Guinea.

In Christ,
