Sound Foundations: Equipping Young Musicians for Excellence

Dear Students, 


The final countdown is on for the start of the 2025 Sound Foundations class! 


We have two exciting announcements to share. First: We have confirmed two more instructors for this year’s Sound Foundations! They are Mrs. Teresa Ong and Dr. Aaron Baker.

 

Teresa Ong Instructor

Mrs. Teresa Ong began her music instruction at a very early age. When she was  four-and-a-half years old, she studied violin at the Pacific School of Music in Seattle, Washington. She later earned a BA in Church Music Education from Denver Baptist Bible College in 1977, an MA in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1986, and a Master of Christian Liberal Arts from Chambers College in 2011.

With a passion for Christ-centered music, Mrs. Ong is looking forward to her first time instructing at Sound Foundations. She will be conducting the choir and also teaching the conducting and orchestration classes. Her musical skills and vibrant joy for the Lord are sure to inspire her students this summer!

Aaron Baker Instructor
 

Dr. Aaron Baker maintains a very busy schedule, but he has arranged time to return to Sound Foundations this year and teach his much loved music history class. A skilled vocalist, arranger, and church music leader, Dr. Baker has a heart to lay a foundation of Godly musical skills for the next generation. Since 1994, his legacy of teaching and church music ministry has produced countless young musicians who love the Lord and want to serve Him with excellence.  


Dr. Baker has served on the faculty of three Bible colleges; he holds degrees in theology and sacred music. Currently, he serves as the associate pastor at Central Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He is also the producer of multiple albums, including “I Believe,” and “My Songs in the Night.” We know returning students (and first-timers too) will be excited to study under him in Music Theory and Biblical Music Foundations this year!
