They say there are only two certain things in life:

Death and taxes.

I’d like to nominate a third.

If you create anything online — no matter how good it is — eventually someone will leave a ridiculous hate comment on your Facebook post.

I recently made some ads for Piano Express, to inform the studios of the world about the benefits of using it.

Here’s a sampling of comments left underneath our simple ads that told stories of people using our system:

In 16 years of running this system, we haven’t had one physical injury in our schools in northern Virginia...

And - we put our students in the rigorous RCM exam system every year… our studio average score is quite high (available upon request).

If the good people in Toronto don’t have a problem with our student’s hand technique… I don’t think you will either.

I’ve heard this one over and over.

“I’ll miss the special connection I have with my students!”

To which I reply:

a) If you’ve never taught a group piano class before - how do you know that you won’t have a special connection to the students?

b) I taught group EXCLUSIVELY through the 2010’s. I still get messages from former students of mine - and got invites to graduation parties long after I stopped teaching. I personally can attest to the fact that not only could I still make a personal connection to a student in the group environment...
