Subject: Your insights matter! join Siggen Seminar 2026 to advance on Nature Restoration.

Are you experience in Nature Restoration? We’d love to hear from you.

Dear member,

Over the past year, Europe has taken major steps to advance nature conservation objectives under the EU Green Deal and other international commitments.

In this context, Member States are required to prepare and submit their draft National Restoration Plans by September 2026. Protected Areas, key players in the mangement of Natura 2000 sites, are expected to play a central role in implementing these plans.

The reason you are receiving this email is because, based on the role of your organisation, we believe you may be engaged in the process of Nature Restoration planning or have experience in implementing Nature Resotation actions in Protected Areas in your country.

For this reason, we would like to hear from you and invite you to participate in the following seminar:

Siggen Seminar 2026
Nature Restoration Plans: The path towards implementation

Travel and arrival: 16th of March
Seminar: 17 - 18 March
Departure: 19 March.

Extended deadline to register: 18.02.2026, 12:00 CET.

If you have any questions, please contact communications@europarc.org.

*Please note, that due to limited spaces, a selection of participants will be made upon registration.

Your inputs matter!

This event is dedicated to those Protected Area professionals that are already a step ahead in the planning of nature restoration actions and, through it, we will dive into what is needed for the successful implementation of the national Nature Restoration Plans.

The Siggen Seminar 2026 will therefore focus on the practical steps needed to move from policy and planning to real, measurable restoration outcomes on the ground. Participants will jointly discuss the policy context, restoration priorities, the role of Protected Areas, impact assessment, and the learning needs of Protected Area managers.

A key outcome of the seminar will be the co-creation of a Restoration Action Plan training course curriculum, as well as an accompanying online Nature Restoration Planning Toolkit. These resources, to be finalised in 2026, will support Protected Area managers and national authorities across Europe, especially those at an early stage of their restoration journey, by providing guidance, case studies, lessons learned and practical tools.

About Siggen Seminars

Every year the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung generously hosts EUROPARC members, in their excellent centre in Gut Siggen, North Germany. Here, we enjoy an intense and practically orientated seminar, examining and sharing expertise in a given aspect of Protected Areas work. You can find previous Siggen Seminars here.

The Siggen Seminar is marked by its participatory character. Hence, participants will be given the opportunity to learn, meet and exchange with their peers and are expected to take an active role in the different sessions organised, which include collective work, presentations and social activities.

The seminar is FREE for EUROPARC members. Participants are only asked to cover travel costs to Siggen.

What does it cost?

EUROPARC's Siggen Seminar is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation. As such, this member's event is free of charge. Accommodation and meals are included. Participants will only need to cover their own travel costs.

If you are not part of a EUROPARC member organisation, a small fee might be required.

How can you get there?

The Siggen Seminar Centre belongs to the Alfred Toepfer Foundation and lies on the north-eastern coast of Germany in the county of Holstein. It is a 20-minute taxi ride from the nearest train station, Oldenburg (Holst), and a five-minute bike-ride to the nearest beach.
