Why the Siggen Seminar?
To adhere to the Nature Restoration Regulation, EU countries must submit their National Nature Restoration Plans by September 2026, and their success will depend not just on ambitious planning but on effective future implementation to meet global biodiversity goals and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
Protected Areas will play a central role, especially those managing and overlapping with Natura 2000 sites, as their managers hold the expertise needed to turn policy into concrete restoration action.
Through the Siggen Seminar 2026 - Nature Restoration Plans: the path towards implementation we will bring together leading restoration experts and draw on participants’ practical experience to to jointly design a structured Restoration Action Plan.
As an output, EUROPARC will develop the curriculum for a new training course and a toolkit to support practitioners to think through how to turn restoration plans into action in Protected Areas across Europe. These resources, will serve as a practical “compass” for Protected Area managers and national authorities responsible for developing and implementing National Nature Restoration Plans.
Pending funding, the course will then be hosted on EUROPARC’s European Nature Academy, to be finalised in 2026.
