Subject: Sweeter than Wine - The message you should have received

Dear Friend,

This is the message you should have gotten this week. The technology got
the best of me.

While ham radio is one of the centers of my life and hence this podcast. I
live and work in Jerusalem, Israel, an interesting place to hangout.
Israel has become a big tourist destination over the years and Jerusalem
has many tourist attractions, music festivals, and art exhibitions that
make it interesting for both residents and tourists.

The wine industry here has exploded over the last 10 years to perhaps
replace the famous Jaffa oranges with Cabernet, Shiraz, and Merlot.
Boutique wineries fill the country from one end to the other. We have the
large producers and we have tiny family wineries that may make only a few
thousand bottles a year. It seems like we are growing grapes everywhere
now, even in the Negev desert.

This week, Israel's wineries came together at the Israel Museum for four
evenings of The Jerusalem Wine Festival. I can't say that I was looking
forward to being away from the QTH for this event, but, in the end, the XYL
and I went on Wednesday night with thousands of other visitors to taste and
sample the best that Israel has to offer. The night, weather, temperature,
and venue were perfect. The wine was out of this World. Everyone was
sampling, so the evening was pleasant and not a fraternity party. I can now
say that I am looking forward to next year's wine festival.

So while this may not have a lot to do with Amateur Radio, on the one hand,
it seems like a delightful idea to come home at night, fire up the rig
while sipping a glass of Shiraz. If you happen to be visiting next year -
meet me for an in person QSO Today at the Jerusalem Wine Festival.

73,

Eric
