Subject: Merry Christmas from Pure Life Ministries

And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said;

“For hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good-will to men!”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the author of these words, was a famous poet during the bloody Civil War. Throughout his life, Henry endured much suffering, including the loss of his most precious possession. While napping one day, he was awakened by the smell of smoke and faint screaming coming from the next room. But it was too late, and by the time Henry realized what was happening, his house was engulfed in fire and, unable to rescue her, he lost his wife. The pain of this loss was so severe it seemed as though he would never recover. Not only did his wife die but so too did his faith. However, over time, the Lord began to revive Henry’s faith, and feeling inspired to finish the poem, he added these words,

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: “God is not dead; nor doth He sleep!

The Wrong shall fail, the Right prevail, with peace on earth, good-will to men!”

Little did Henry know how the Lord would redeem his suffering and produce a gift that would bring hope to many others experiencing pain and loss! These words belong to the famous song we know today as, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.”

Whether or not you find yourself in a season of suffering and loss, may you and your family abound in the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ, this Christmas, and New Year!

Blessings from all of us here at Pure Life Ministries.

Dear Friend,

Recent events—such as the unprecedented savagery just unleashed upon Israel; perversion that is now openly celebrated; the rise of hostility toward believers and the defection from the faith of many Christians—all indicate that we really are drawing ever closer to the return of Christ. The Psalmist’s question is certainly relevant to our time: “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)

When the foundations are destroyed, there is only one safe place for us to go. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10) Beloved, now more than ever, we need to be sure that our life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). It is not our knowledge of the Scriptures (as important as that is) that is going to keep us; it is our relationship with the Lord. Peter said that we are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:5).

As I look at the lives of godly saints in the Bible and throughout history, one thing they all had in common was an intense hunger for the presence of God in their daily lives. I pray this becomes increasingly true in our lives as well!

As a staff, we strive to maintain a godly atmosphere on our residential campus so the men coming to us for help can encounter the presence of God in a way that will truly transform them. When you support this ministry, you make it possible for us to provide such a place. Thank you for all your help!

An urgent need has arisen here that we must address as this year comes to an end. The foundation of one of our staff houses has cracked and the roof must be replaced. The cost of these projects will be around $22,500. Would you prayerfully consider making a year-end donation toward this need or to our General Fund? Thank you for being a part of our ministry.

May God bless you and your family this Christmas and New Year!

In Christ's Service,
