Subject: A Desperate Need for Truth

Dear Friend,

Today’s headlines mirror the deception, difficulty, and violence Scripture predicts for the end of the age. With lawlessness increasing and immorality running rampant, the need for a spiritual refuge for professing Christians in sexual sin is greater than ever before!

We are extremely grateful for those of you who support this ministry through prayer and financial giving. The battle we are in for these souls is intense. It seems like each year the men who enter our programs are substantially more hardened by sin. With all the various forms of deception being perpetrated in our culture, people have grown increasingly cynical and unable to discern truth. We have created a society where no one trusts anyone—not even God!

What hope do people in this kind of spiritual climate have? In all my years of ministry, there has only been one trustworthy source: the Word of God. The men and women who come to us for help desperately need truth, and they are not going to find it in the world. Jesus said that “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

Proverbs 16:6 declares, “In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity; and by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.”

We are committed to speaking the truth in love to those we minister to. The Lord has given us a clear mission and by His grace we are devoted to fulfilling it. I am extremely thankful that the Lord has filled all 75 beds in our Residential Program and has equipped us with a staff large enough to meet the need.

If you remember from my previous letter, our maintenance team began construction on a new house to accommodate up to eight staff members. Since then, they have made great progress and with the outside of the house complete, they are currently hard at work to finish the interior. Our goal for this tremendous project was $400,000, and at the writing of this letter, we are about $48,000 away from that goal!

With the impact inflation has had on our operating expenses, your generosity has been invaluable. Completing this building project is a top priority for us as we head into this new year. However, with our operating expenses increasing due to inflation (imagine buying eggs at $5.00 a dozen for 75 hungry men!), we also want to make you aware of a couple of smaller needs. If you feel led, you can give to any of the following needs:
  • New Staff House ($48,000 remaining)
  • New Laptop for the Counseling Department ($1,000)
  • As an ongoing need, we are hoping some folks would offer to cover one week’s worth of groceries for our Residential Program ($810)
These needs are also listed on our Donate Page: www.purelifeministries.org/donate. Again, we are thankful for your faithful support, and we value your partnership in this ministry.

If you haven’t registered yet, we hope to see you and your family at our 23rd Annual Conference in April. This year’s theme, The World Is Passing Away, is certainly a relevant and timely subject for all of us to consider.
In Christ's Service,
Steve Gallagher,
President
