Time to Update Your Self Managers Direct Employment HR Manual - January 2022

A heads up that we have just released a new version of the NDIS Self Managers Direct Employment HR Manual Manual and it is time to update your copy.


Clients with current subscriptions are invited to log into their member's area and download the latest version.


These changes have come about primarily because of changes to the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators and we have taken the opportunity to review our entire manuals against the revised standards.

HR Policies – New Policies

  • Chapter 5 – Severe Weather and Natural Disasters.


HR Policies – Updated Sections

  • Chapter 2 – Privacy & Confidentiality – Updated reflect storage of confidential information.

  • Chapter 3 – Title changed from Performance, Learning and Development to Performance, Training and Development to better align to the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators. The word learning has been changed to training throughout the manual where relevant.

  • Chapter 4 – Behaviour & Code of Conduct – Code of Conduct – Respect for Persons. An example of financial abuse has been included.

  • Chapter 5 – Safety & Security – Administering Medication – Things to check before administering medication extended to include understanding the effects and side-effects of the medication to comply with the NDIS Practice Standards.

  • Chapter 5 – Safety & Security – Administering Medication – Things to check before administering medication. A new paragraph was added to ensure medications are stored safely and securely to comply with the NDIS Practice Standards.

  • Chapter 5 – Safety & Security – Behaviours of Concern – Your Responsibilities. The paragraph relating to restrictive practices has been extended to include a requirement for training in the use and understanding of the risks associated with the practices.

  • Chapter 5 – Safety & Security – Behaviours of Concern – Reporting. Extended to include reference to legislative reporting requirements.

  • Chapter 5 – Safety & Security – Mealtime Management. Edited to take into account the new NDIS Practice Standards relating to Mealtime Management and Severe Dysphagia Management.


Induction Manual

  • Learning and Development was renamed Training and Development.

  • Code of conduct – respect for persons amended to reflect the words in the manual


HR Forms

  • New Employee Checklist – Diary appointments – examples added to the dot point training booked

  • Induction Checklist – client equipment added to the equipment section


To update your manual to the latest version, log into your account on the Employee Manual website.


If you have a current subscription the latest version will be already uploaded to your account in your member's area.


To log in - go to the Employee Manual website and click the green Account Login button at the top right.


Once logged in, you will be taken to your Member's Area page. (If the top of the page doesn't say Member's Area, then log out and log back in again).


Instructions (and screenshots) on how to find the latest version are in your Member's Area.
