Hi Friend
Apart from feeling guilt which is one of the biggest issues you can experience in your relationship when you have chronic illness, the even bigger issue is "What if the chronic illness causes my partner to leave me?"
Fear of being a burden, fear of the financial strain, fear that they just don't understand what you are going through, frustration that they don't believe you or think you are just being "lazy".
Can you relate?
Chronic illness brings so many fears and doubts and resentment and cracks in your relationship and that just makes everything feel worse.
What I am doing increasingly more and more these days is working with couples which is wonderful because I know that both will have the same framework, both will have the same communication skills and both will receive equal support from me.
Let's face it Friend, as hard as it is having chronic illness, it also has a huge impact on the one we love.
When you get chronic illness, it happens to your partner as well and they can find it really difficult to see you in pain, chronically ill, unable to do the things you could before and not being able to fix it for you.
My Couples program means that each of you gets an equal amount of one on one time with me, plus a few sessions when I work with you both together to iron out any of those misunderstandings and get you both back on the same page again.
So if you are feeling that fear. If you are considering therapy to either save your marriage or make it even better, book your FREE Discovery Session with me now!
This is what Mayme had to say about her experience with my Couples Program"
"Before I started working with you, I had very low self esteem. I was feeling like I had accomplished nothing in my life and everyone was better, smarter and more worthy than myself.
What lead me to contact you was that I knew I had to do something about my marriage. I was in shock when my husband told me he didn’t see us getting old together. Even though I knew deep down things weren’t right, I still was shocked and wanted to get help.
My world was quickly spinning out of control, I didn’t know what to do or where to turn. I turned to a Hashimoto's support group to ask for advice and that is where I learned about you. At first I was concerned about money, but then I realised we could not put a price tag on our marriage.
Before our very first session, I was very excited, I had faith this was going to help our marriage a lot as well as myself.
By the end of that session, I had learned about myself, all my different Mayme's. How my family trauma had affected me. How I had to release all my pain that I had been carrying all these years.
No one has said anything to me directly about how I have changed, but I have noticed how my coworkers talk to me and interact with me differently. They are more respectful and they smile and joke with me now.
I have noticed a huge difference in myself!
I am more positive and happy. I stand up for myself and 90% of the time I say what I want, no more “I don’t care” answers. I find myself more concerned with myself and how/ what I can do to improve myself.
I am staying in my boundaries and no longer worrying about what anyone else is thinking/saying about me.
What I didn’t expect from my program with you is all the help I received for me, myself & I. I was expecting it to all to be based on my marriage.
I love how you worked with us separately then had us in sessions together. I really needed to work on myself to help this marriage or any relationship I may be in.
I believe this was/is our root cause to our poor relationship. (As well as what my husband had to work on.) I learned a lot about myself that I would have never know if it hadn’t been for you.
I loved my experience with you.
You have helped me more than words can express. You gave me my life back. Thank you Kerry! Mayme."
