My recent heart scare and how not to spiral down.
Hey there Friend.

I hope this finds you as well as you can be as we start heading into the end of what's been a very challenging year with the holiday season ahead of us and still so much uncertainty in the world.

How are you coping with it all Friend? Feel free to hit "reply" to this email and let me know.

A few weeks ago, I was heading to hospital at 2am in the back of an ambulance with all of the signs of a suspected heart attack.

Needless to say that it was not a good time.

The good news is that I am currently fine.

My ECG's were good as was my oxygenation, I have no inflammatory markers, no signs of blood clots and I am going to have further testing with a heart stress test in 3 weeks time.

Life with chronic illness is often filled with terrifying moments, don't you agree?

There literally can be moments where you think to yourself "is this it? Am I now so sick that I am going to die?" and in those moments, it's easy to spiral down into panic.

The biggest issue though is when the moment has passed and you are ok and your busy little brain that is trying to protect you from danger, starts throwing up all of the worst case, "what if" scenarios to imagine all of the ways you could have died, how horrible it was and how it could have been.

After the emergency is the most risky time to start down that emotional spiral and work yourself into a hot, anxious, weepy and panicky mess.

How do you resist that?

By staying in the reality where all of those scary things didn't happen.

What you don't want to do is indulge those fear based stories of what could have happened, how you could have died, how it all could have gone horribly wrong and how terrible that would have been because, that's not how your story ended.

You are still here, still alive and there is still good things available to you right now if you can be in the right emotional state to appreciate them.

How you don't spiral is to stay in the right here and right now where yes, it was scary and unpleasant and you would much rather not have gone through it, thank you very much, BUT, you got through it and it's ok.

So Friend, if you have been having some scary and challenging times and you are stuck in a spiral and you want to learn all of the essential skills and emotional tools that I use to manage my own illnesses and make the best of my life, then book in your FREE Discovery Session with me now online.
