How my chronic illnesses affect my everyday life.
Hello Friend,

Back in your inbox with another new podcast episode and a little update on my life and what's happening in my world.

Unfortunately, my Dad has experienced another major health crisis and is now back in Hospital with a serious UTI and a potential heart attack.

This happened early on Sunday morning and I was at the Hospital with him all through his stay in emergency until he was finally admitted to the cardiac care unit late in the afternoon and saw him settled in.

One of the most challenging parts of being his advocate is that unlike when I advocate for myself, I don't yet have the authority to make Dad's medical decisions for him, though I suspect that time will be coming soon.

It's a fine line to walk to make sure Dad gets the care he needs and that my brother and my insights and concerns are given in a way that gives us the best chance of being heard without being shut down.

As each day passes and more testing is done, it looks increasingly likely that his heart is ok and the urinary tract infection is the cause of his collapse and all the issues he is experiencing so if you want to send some good thoughts or prayers for my Dad, know that I would very much appreciate it.

I am pushing hard to have him spend time in a physical rehabilitation centre so he can be as safe and independent as possible before he comes home.

Wish me luck!

New Podcast.

Today (June 19th, 2024) marks 4 years since my Type 1 diabetes diagnosis which makes this the perfect time to talk about how my chronic illnesses affect my everyday life.

In this podcast I open up about each of my 4 different autoimmune diseases, the impact they have on me, what's changed what ongoing issues I still have and how I deal with them.

This includes how it's affected my sleep, diet, social life, friendships, relationships and the many ways in which it has changed my life.

I also share a peek into my daily chronic illness management, my health goals, typical medical administration and what life is generally like for me.

As always, I am not a medical doctor and the way in which I choose to manage my illness is what works best for me. There is no "one" way to manage chronic illness and we all need to find our way and what works best for us.

The audio recording cut out at the end but all you are missing is my usual "bye for now."

Make sure you listen and share and if you want to help me reach more people who need to hear this, I would so appreciate it if you would leave a positive review on your favorite podcast player!

Let’s help educate and spread the word of the practical realities and emotional issues that becoming chronically ill bring from those who know it best.

It is only by sharing our stories and experiences that we can help someone else know that they are not alone when it comes to chronic illness.
