Hey Friend,
Happy New Year and I hope you are feeling as well as you can be given all the things going on in the world right now.
Here in Australia, we had a terrible mass shooting event at beautiful Bondi Beach in Sydney, New South Wales and at the moment, bushfires are still ongoing after some very high heat conditions.
I am feeling very grateful for the ways in which Australians pulled together in grief and the amazing efforts of our professional and volunteer fire fighters who risk their lives to help others.
We are looking forward to firefighters from our friends in Canada arriving to help shortly. With all that is going on in the world right now, it's so good to know how many are willing to help others.
I am in my second week back at work and it's been wonderful catching up with my current clients and welcoming some new ones to the start of their programs.
At the moment, I am taking care of my grand dog Indi (who is a Rottweiler) as she is recovering from a big surgery on her leg and is staying with me this week while her parents go back to work.
She's asleep at my feet while I write this and was a very good girl while I saw my clients today.
New Podcast: How do you find joy again?
Question: It’s been 4 years now with chronic illness and I am so sick of being sick and I know everyone around me is sick of me being sick as well. I feel like my whole life now is based around managing my symptoms and the exhaustion and the grief of everything I have lost. How can I start to feel some joy again because right now, it feels impossible?
When people first start working with me, the things they always list as goals are all of the things that they want less of.
Less anxiety, less pain, less overwhelm or grief and it takes a while to start to think about what is it that you want more of or that you want back, instead of all of the things you want less of.
More joy, more peace, being more present and engaged with your life.
More feelings of being connected and having an expanded emotional range so that you can feel so much more than where you feel stuck at the moment.
But a lot of that is going to depend on where you are right now.
So, lets talk about where you can be stuck, what to do when that happens and how you can start cultivating a practice to include more of the things you want, including joy.If this has been an issue for you Friend, then this podcast will help.
Have a listen and if you find it helpful, please share it with anyone you think it could help. Let’s help educate and spread the word of the practical realities and emotional issues that becoming chronically ill bring from those who know it best.
It is only by sharing our stories and experiences that we can help someone else know that they are not alone when it comes to chronic illness.
