Friendly Water is Hiring Two Program Coordinators

Friendly Water for the World is in the process of searching for two competent persons to fill the positions of Programs Coordinator in (1) Matsakha Sub-location (located in Kakamega County, Kenya) and (2) Vigulu Sub-location (located in Vihiga County, Kenya). A Programs Coordinator is a person with experience and basic knowledge in coordinating programs through careful preparation & collaboration between team members and partners. A coordinator: works closely with the Assistant Programs Manager (APM) and directly with the Community Based Organization (CBO) to further the plan put in place by Friendly Water and the respective CBO; support leadership members in executing day to day activities; assist with program/data/time management; encourage CBO members to be active participants; and represent Friendly Water and the CBO within the community. The Programs Coordinator reports to the Assistant Programs Manager responsible for their location.


Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Support the CBO and APMs in the execution of program activities.

  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources.

  • Closely monitor how the program is developing and report challenges/potential risks as they arise along with any solutions to the APM. 

  •  Discuss any thoughts they have about program improvements with APM.

  • Collaborate closely with CBO leadership to create relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of all required hardware and software of a program.

  • Support the CBO in managing resources, developing & implementing plans, and coordinating program activities.

  • Act as a trusted messenger between the organization and other stakeholders.

  • To make sure there is clear and precise communication among team members, stakeholders, and clients thereby ensuring that all pertinent individuals are well informed of program advancement and any modification.

  • Attend and participate in all community activities alongside the CBO and document events accordingly.

  •  Provide administrative support to the CBO in maintaining accurate and regularly updated documentation and records.

  • Generate timely and accurate reports on program status to brief the APM, Programs Manager and other stakeholders as required.

  • Participate in any meetings as required.

  • Participate in any emerging activities as required by the APM or Programs Manager. 

  • Help in managing CBO Asset inventory. 

  • Tracking, reporting, and documenting any activity impact.

  • Any other duties as assigned by APM. 

Skills Required

  • Communication skills - Programs coordinator needs to communicate effectively with other team members both verbally and in writing as required.

  • Organizational skills - Relevant skills in basic computer literacy, file and data management tasks.

  • Problem-solving skills - Must be able to identify potential issues and report to APM. 

  • Attention to detail.

  • Time management skills.

  • Basic financial literacy is desirable.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Leadership skills - Be able to motivate and guide team members.

  • Technical skills - Have a basic knowledge of the programs being undertaken.

  • Interpersonal skills - Must be able to build relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
