Schubert Mass in E-flat

Join Music on the Hill for a Summer Chorus performance of the Schubert Mass in E-Flat led by artistic director Ellen Dickinson. The Mass is one of Schubert's last major works, rarely performed but filled with the lyrical beauty for which he was admired. (More)

Social cohesion - the existence of, the unraveling of, and the stretching of which challenges communication - is richly reflected in Karen Vogel's work. A painter, printmaker and landscape designer, Cultural Alliance artist member Karen Vogel uses typography, architecture, and organic forms in a linguistic manner, echoing outpourings of sound and narrative. Q&A with Karen at 6:30pm. (More)

Moffly Media Evening of Art, Wine and Jazz Weekend

Three evenings of jazz, with Italian wine tasting and an art exhibit by Andres Chaparro in the lobby, from 7:15pm. Hear The Preservation Hall Jazz Band (July 27), Dave Koz & Larry Graham (July 28) and Bernie Williams & His All-Star Band (July 29).

The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County announces its new ARTISTS TALK series of video-recorded discussions in close collaboration with the Westport Art Center and its SELECTS 2017 juried exhibition.  Featured member artists include Eric Chiang, Louise Flax, William Glaser, Xiao Mai Kong, and Jarvis Wilcox.

Actress and Singer, Leslie Orofino has been enchanting sold out audiences with her sultry voice from New York City's legendary Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room to Napa Valley's Silverado Country Club for over 30 years. As part of MTC's Hot Summer Nights series, she sings “Cocktails with Cole: The Life and Music of Legend Cole Porter”. (More)

Marianela Medrano

Marianela Medrano, published poet and activist, will share her work, including a recent piece published in the Afro-Latino anthology, ¡Manteca! the first poetry anthology to highlight writings by Latinos of African descent. Marianela Medrano was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, and has lived in Connecticut since 1990. (More)

Liget Dance Ensemble

Straight from Hungary, the Liget Dance Ensemble will be performing at Crystal Theatre. Watch the performance then go onstage and learn the dances from the performers: a wonderful experience for families. This is the Liget's only appearance in Connecticut. Learn traditional Hungarian folk dancing. (More)

WORKSHOP OF THE WEEK

Encaustic Collagraphs

July 26-28
Center for Contemporary Printmaking

This workshop combines encaustic painting with printmaking by creating collagraph plates that use wax to make the printable surface. Participants will be able to experiment with inlaying and incising techniques to create texture and build their images on re-usable plexi-glass plates. (More)
