Hello Miracle Family,
You’ll never know your true magnificence until you stop protecting the part of you that forgot the truth.
That is what a grievance does.
It looks like protection. It looks like strength. It looks like self-respect. It looks like you are finally standing up for yourself. But most of the time, the grievance protects the false self.
The body-self.
The wounded self.
The part of you that still believes somebody else has the power to take your peace, your worth, your safety, or your love.
That is why anger, guilt, and grievances feel so personal. They do not just tell a story about what happened. They tell a story about who you think you are.
A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 72 says, “Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation.” And in the Course, salvation means happiness, peace, healing, and the return to right-mindedness. So a grievance does not protect your happiness. It attacks it. It keeps you staring at the wound instead of remembering your magnificence.
This week’s practice:
Bring one grievance to mind. Take a breath. Now look beneath it. Did you feel rejected, abandoned, dismissed, betrayed, disrespected, unsafe, unseen, or unloved? Take another breath and notice this: you only feel wounded because some part of you feels fragile or unprotected. Now imagine Spirit sitting with you, waiting for a real conversation. Tell Spirit what happened. Then listen with your heart. Spirit will answer with the truth of who you are. If the answer affirms your magnificence and reminds you that you are perfect, whole, and complete, you heard the whisper of God. If the voice berates you, shames you, or makes you feel small, breathe again. Say, “That is not true.” Then invite Spirit to speak again.
Take a second (or fourth) look at How to Find Peace: Why Every Problem Is an Identity Problem, this week's video, for more insight on moving beyond grievances to gracious living. This week's practice is not just dropping the grievance, but seeing what it was hiding and letting Spirit answer it with the truth. The grievance may have convinced you that you are wounded, fragile, or unsafe, but God’s Voice will always remind you that you remain as God created you: innocent, whole, complete, loving, lovable, and loved.
Love,
Earl
