Hello Miracle Family,
What if the relationship you keep trying to heal “out there” is really pointing you back to the one relationship that has always been underneath it all?
In A Course in Miracles, Text, Chapter 15, Section VIII, “The Only Real Relationship,” Jesus says, “The holy instant does not replace the need for learning,” and then immediately reorients us toward the deeper curriculum: the Holy Spirit “must use everything in this world for your release.”
That changes the purpose of every relationship you think you have.
Instead of seeing relationships primarily as places where you seek validation, safety, companionship, or specialness, the Course asks you to see them as mirrors. They reveal the thought system you are still using. They uncover what you believe love is. They expose what you think God is like. And they bring to the surface the hidden places where you still believe you are separate, unsupported, or unworthy. This is why relationships can feel so intense: they are not just interpersonal. They are theological.
Then the section gives the deeper corrective: “Relate only with what will never leave you, and what you can never leave.” Later, it becomes even more direct: “God created the only relationship that has meaning, and that is His relationship with you.”
That does not make your human relationships meaningless. It gives them a new foundation.
When you stop asking another person to be your source, your savior, your proof, or your completion, you become available for a holy relationship instead of a special relationship. You begin to meet others from wholeness rather than hunger. And from there, love becomes less about possession and more about remembrance.
For reflection:
Where are you still asking a person to give you what only God has already given?
Love,
Earl
