WE MADE THE NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES TIMES!

The New York Times and Los Angeles Times came out with their annual lists of holiday movies to catch over the next two months. The LA Times was a comprehensive list--they listed ALL the movies coming out in that time. You begin to understand how daunting our release is when you realize we're opening with 17 other movies that same day! This is why we need your support to help us break through the noise.

The New York Times list was curated. As they said, "Here is a highly select list of noteworthy films due this season," AND WE MADE THAT LIST! Very cool.

The LAT said about DriverX:  "A struggling family man plunges into a sex- and alcohol-fueled world of ride-sharing." The NYT asked, "Will it be “Taxi Driver” for the Uber era?" That's quite a brew--a sex- and alcohol-fueled Taxi Driver! That's not really what the movie is, but if it helps pique people's interest, we'll take it. I think you can tell from the trailer it's something else...

MORE DETAILS ABOUT OUR OPENING WEEKENDS

DriverX is opening in Los Angeles and New York on November 30th. Because we can't be in two places at one time, and because we're based in Los Angeles, IFC is holding a special SNEAK PREVIEW in New York on Tuesday, November 27th at the IFC Center. Several of us will be there for a discussion after the screening, including Patrick Fabian, Tanya Clarke, Desmin Borges, Henry Barrial, Tiffany Panhilason, Mark Burnham, Helen Rose, and myself. We're also working on getting a special celebrity guest to moderate the Q&A. We'll let you know who that is soon. It's going to be great fun, and we hope that if you're in the New York area, you'll come down and see us. Or tell your NY friends to catch that show. Desmin Borges will hold down the fort on Friday, Nov. 30th for the Q&A opening night.

In Los Angeles, we open at the Laemmle Monica Film Center in Santa Monica on Friday, November 30th. This will be our official LA Premiere and also our de facto Cast & Crew screening, so it's going to be a big night. We'll have a red carpet and pictures before the first evening show at 7:10pm, and then a Q&A with a large contingent of cast and crew and a special guest moderator immediately following. Then we'll have a reception at the theater in between that show and our second evening show at 10pm, which we'll introduce.

We're planning several other special event screenings in LA for the week, including:
  • BETTER CALL SAUL NIGHT - Saturday, Dec. 1st • 7:10pm. Several members of the Better Call Saul cast and crew will be on hand for a BCS Talkback after the screening. We'll do BCS Trivia and give away fun prizes to the attendees who really know Saul!
  • TEXAS EXES FILM NIGHT - Sunday, Dec. 2nd • 4:30pm.  The Los Angeles Chapter of the University of Texas Alumni Association will be using this screening as one of their Hollywood Seminar events, celebrating Longhorns in the industry (yours truly, included), and continuing our mission of educating members in the entertainment business. We'll have a Q&A with the main cast and crew following the screening and then meet down the street at Cabo Catina for drinks, appetizers and networking. We'll also raffle some great prizes. Everyone is welcome!
  • RIDESHARE NIGHT - TBD. I'm hoping to have a special night devoted to Uber/Lyft drivers, where after the screening we'll have a special panel of expert drivers to discuss the issues the film raises, and share Driving tips and tricks. Verified Uber/Lyft drivers will get a discount to the show, and we'll give away fun prizes.
  • NO BUDGET FILM SCHOOL NIGHT - Thursday, Dec. 6th (likely). I'm also hoping to do a NBFS night with cast and crew and a special guest moderator. We'll discuss how the film was made on a micro-budget, including the many techniques I teach in my No Budget Film School classes. No budget question will go unanswered! And again, we'll be raffling off fun prizes.
We'll also schedule a few other times where one or more of us will be in attendance for Q&A. We hope if you're in the LA area you'll join us for one of these special screenings. You'll not only get to see the movie on the big screen, as it was meant to be seen, but also we'll get a chance to meet you in person and answer any questions about the movie. Patrick Fabian should be at all of these shows and I hear he's pretty easy to take a selfie with!

More details to come with links to buy tickets once those are available. And we'll be announcing more cities soon, too.

Can't wait to get this show on the road!

Best,
Mark
