I-35 Cap & Stitch Vote Coming Up Next Week

On May 22, the Austin City Council will vote on whether to fund the construction of the “Cap & Stitch” Program over the TxDOT’s expansion of the I-35 corridor.
The project will cost between $400M and $1.4B.
City Council wants to hear from voters on this issue.

I've been working with my staff to analyze comprehensive data on the proposed caps. Check out this easy-to-follow Cap-and-Stitch explainer we created so voters can get a complete picture of the funding impact, ROI, and also compare with similar projects in other cities. Every dollar we spend on the caps is a dollar we can't use for other needs, so this is an historic vote.
