Subject: Re: is your metabolic set point working against you

Hey Friend,

Can you believe it's already the end of January?

How did you do with those health/fitness goals?  I wanted to share something with you that came up this week during one of my client conversations.

I work with a lot of clients who are trying to lose weight and recover from things like heart disease and diabetes.

But this week I was talking with someone at the gym about why despite her obsession with counting calories, she had gained a lot of weight back.

It's called THE BIGGEST LOSER EFFECT.  Have you heard about it? Basically, ALL the winners of the BIGGEST LOSER show gained their weight back and more (except one).  Why?

Well, it's simple.  When you lose weight by counting and cutting calories you will always slow down your metabolism.  When you lose a lot of weight quickly, you also lose a lot of muscle tissue that further slows down your metabolism.

After you lose the weight, your metabolic SET POINT is now much lower than when you were overweight because your metabolism is now set to sustain you at your new lower weight.  So the minute you deviate from your low calorie diet, you will start to gain the weight back.

I should also note that your body hates to lose weight.  It loves to hold on to fat, just in case there is a famine.  It's an evolutionary thing.  So your brain is going to do everything it can to push you in the direction of gaining the weight back.

How do you prevent this?  You need an eating plan that allows you to eat as much as you want, while losing weight.  Why is this important?  You need to keep your fullness hormones happy so they can keep the gut-to-brain loop going.

In short, to be successful, you have to train your biology to work for you instead of against you, because biology always beats willpower every single time.

Anyway, if you want to learn more about the five shifts my busy clients make to lose as much as 50 pounds and take control of their heart disease and diabetes, go ahead and sign up for my free webinar.
