As 2019 comes to a close and 2020 is on the horizon...
I've had the pleasure of producing the D2D, meeting and working with many of you at the events. I'm eternally grateful for your participation and continued support for the Dare2Draw.
As a young artist looking for community in the 1980's, I stumbled into comix and found a vibrant supportive community. I first came across the Joe Kubert School from the cool advertisements in my favorite comic books, as I was doing research and trying to figure out how to make comix at my local shop, with my friends. We all considered The Joe Kubert School to be the "Harvard" for comix. It took me 25 years, but finally, I found my way there, using my 9/11 G.I. bill. That training and working with Joe helped shape me and my life's purpose. To build on mentorship and create community has been my goal - but we need to do more, in this ever-changing industry.
Folks, we're witnessing a new era for one of our industry's most influential legacies - The Joe Kubert School for Cartooning and Graphic Art. The Kubert School – has a long history of producing top talent, launching many comix careers and inspiring countless others. D2D will continue its mission in 2020 - to develop new ideas and provide a platform for voices in our awesome comix community.
I would like to ask for your support in helping the new owner of JKS, Anthony Marques, a good guy and a wonderful example of what’s possible with hard work and dedication.
Please - help get the word out for Anthony's first appearance at D2D, at our end-of-the-2019-season shoot, this Saturday, in NYC...where he'll have the opportunity to tell us ALL about his plan for the future of JKS.
Anthony plans to continue to build on Joe Kubert’s mission to educate and prepare cartoonists, as the industry evolves and grows.
Let's give him a hand.
