Will You Be Justified or Condemned by The Words You Speak? – Michael Edwards
"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Matt 12:37 NAS
I believe that Christians regularly misinterpret this topic. I did for years, thinking it was talking about profanity or even talk of sin or plans to sin. To understand it in context, we simply need to remember that the Bible teaches the only way we are justified, is by grace through faith. The thing that brought us condemnation before Christ was the law. The law can only condemn us in our minds and thoughts.
So as believers, are we speaking words of grace that build up others in their faith of God’s promised salvation? Or, are we speaking words that corrupt the faith, scatter, cause doubt, condemnation, and death? It is only faith in Jesus that leads to life.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph 2:8-9 NAS
Those in Christ are no longer under the law and condemnation; they are under grace.
For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Rom 6:14 NAS
The only thing that brings a believer condemnation in their thoughts and mind is if they still think they are under the law. If we lead other believers to think they are under the law and not under grace, we corrupt the faith and do Satan’s work. The letter of the law is the ministry of condemnation and death.
Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end…
