It’s All About the Who and How
Karen White

As I watched the Kindergartners put ketchup on their plates, I realized that each child chose a different method and location to place the condiment. I was reminded that Churches all have different methods to function as well. Music, dress codes, programs, service and times all differ from one church to another.

In John 4, Jesus is speaking with the Woman at the Well. He tells her in verse 23, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

Jesus is telling the woman that the place one worships is no longer significant. Instead, what is important is Who and How we worship. One may attend the largest church every time the door opens, with the best music, dressed in their finest but unless they have repented of their sins and have accepted His gift of salvation, they are not a “true worshipper”. He is the Who we are to worship.

According to vs. 23, true worshippers are those that worship the Father in the Spirit and in Truth. The “How” we worship is by submitting our hearts to Him bringing Him glory every day, wherever we are and in every way. True worshippers do not only worship God within the church building during scheduled services but rather it is a minute by minute choice to follow Him.

Regardless of how the children placed the ketchup on their tray, the important aspect was that they had the condiment needed to enhance their meal. The same is true of worship, it doesn’t matter as much where we worship but Who and How.

Dear Father, Thank you for sending Your Son so that we may worship You in spirit and in truth.

Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant letter of the law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross.

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Recent Amazon Review:

"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17
