Escape Is Impossible - Dale Buchanan
Escaping slaves! After plundering their masters, they fled the land. They had possessions to carry and flocks to herd. They were scared to death, facing impossibility, and their leader was new to them.
Moses’ God-given ability turned water into blood. There was the plague of frogs, lice, flies, livestock disease, boils, thunder, hail and fire, locusts, thick darkness, and the death of the firstborn. All these plagues happened only to the Egyptians.
Now they were trapped. With the Red Sea in front, steep mountains on each side, and the Egyptian army rapidly pursuing, there was no possible escape. They were doomed.
Women cried, contemplating their fate, holding desperately on to their children. Men wrung their hands in desperation, uneasily searching the terrain around them for a route of escape.
Suddenly the booming voice of Moses rang out in the gathering darkness.
“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: - - - The LORD shall fight for you. (Exodus 14:13, 14 KJV).
They watched amazed, as a pillar of cloud moved in behind them, creating darkness for the Egyptians and light for them. A fierce east wind divided the Red Sea waters, blowing dry the land through the sea. Moses commanded them to march through the Red Sea on dry land with a wall of water on both sides.
The Egyptians tried to follow, but the Lord removed their chariot wheels. When the Israelites were safely across, Moses stretched his hand over the sea, and the waters returned, covering all the Egyptians. In the morning, the Israelites saw the dead Egyptians on the seashore.
The omnipotent God was able to overcome an impossible dilemma.
And God is the same today. Therefore, cast your every care on Him.
