2013 Barolo Vintage ~ One for the Ages!

“In 2013, a cool growing season and late harvest produced gorgeous Barolos with striking aromatics, silky tannins, sculpted, vibrant fruit and mid-weight structures. Readers will find a number of thrilling, utterly captivating wines that speak to the pedigree and class that are the signatures of the best Barolo vintages.”Antonio Galloni, “2013 Barolo: Sublime Finesse & Elegance,”

“2013 marked an exceptional harvest for the late-ripening Nebbiolo grape.”Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator

“Beautiful harmony, bright fruit, clarity—these are the defining traits of Barolo’s 2013 vintage…These are young Nebbiolos that will please wine lovers with their classic structure yet accessibility…Indeed the 2013s have a comparable structure to the excellent 2010 vintage, but the 2013s are overall more refined and focused as well as more consistent in quality.” --

2013 Aldo Conterno Barolo  $480 6pack
There is no shortage of buzz surrounding the 2013 vintage in Piedmont. Following an initially wet spring, growers enjoyed a long, temperate growing season that has produced voluptuous, balanced, enchanting wines. Few critics have published comprehensive reports on 2013 Barolo yet, but if James Suckling’s scores for the 2013 cru Barolo from Conterno (Romirasco, 98; Colonnello 98; Cicala, 99) are any indication, the beloved Barolo Bussia 2013, the estate’s “entry-level” Barolo, should be a knock out.
