Embrace The Writing Process, Your Process đź’ź

June 3, 2022
Oakland, CA

Hi Friend,
For the months of June, July, and part of August, I'll be talking about writing process.

What are the questions and musings you have on this topic?

-- Do you mind map your stories?
-- Do you like to brainstorm out loud?
-- Other ideas...?

Add your ideas to the comments here in our Facebook group: Fellowship of the Pen. Or hit reply and let me know. Or tag me on Twitter: @BethBarany.

Here are some of the topics Ezra and I will share on:
  • how to start writing: tips like List of 20; asking What-if, and more
  • how writers block often stems from confusing writing with editing
  • why starting small is magic
  • what rituals or processes or habit to instill to be ready to write
  • how to have permission to write crappy first drafts
  • why compassion and positive self-talk are critical to getting the book done
  • how to deal with the pain and the glee of the creative process
I'll say this today...

The most important keys to developing and maintaining a writing practice (and any art practice) are:
  • compassion toward self
  • the willingness to fail
  • the desire to make it happen no matter what
  • the patience to help yourself learn new habits and behaviors

What are the essentials for you in developing and maintaining your writing practice?

Because your power as a writer lies in knowing what works best for you.

The Zoom calls will last at least 1 hour, possibly more. You don't need to stay the whole time.

Here's the gist:

Are you curious about building the foundations of your creative business?

Sign up so we know you're coming and so you can get the Zoom link.

Because we’re new to teaching with each other and because we both like to be prepared, we’ll do these 2 sessions to “practice in the real world” as I like to call it.

We’re inviting you because:

-- having an interested audience will help us gauge our material
-- you may be interested in the topic
-- it’s fun!

DETAILS
-- No cost to you.
-- These calls will be recorded for internal purposes only.
-- Your presence and your feedback (1-3 short questions) will help us be that much more prepared.

Thank you so much for helping us by your very presence!
