The afternoon I was diagnosed with cancer, I flashed back to my grandfather Charlie’s funeral...

Standing room only, with person after person sharing stories about how much he’d impacted them.

I’d always known my grandfather was a good man. But this was when I realized just how great he'd truly been.

Flash-forward to that moment after my cancer diagnosis. I couldn’t help but envision my own funeral, wondering what people would say about me:

Hard worker. Focused. Disciplined. Good mom.

Nice words, but nothing about having made a real impact.

I was immediately bombarded by regrets, mostly about how often I’d pushed things off to “later”.

I’m not the only one who has said "someday" or "later" to a big dream or bold action.

Cancer taught me that “someday” doesn't happen. It's up to you to make it happen.

This vision stayed with me. It’s ultimately why I left law to do what I do now. It’s why I started my podcast.

And it's why I've started speaking up about uncomfortable topics that might seem unrelated to what I do (such as rising antisemitism).

[FYI, these topics are not unrelated. They're values-based. And if you know me at all, you know that I believe values are key to success that leads to real happiness.]

If you've been telling yourself "someday," this is your reminder, Friend, to get out there. Do the thing.

I cannot guarantee success. But that’s not the point. The point is not having regrets.

XO,

Heather

P.S. What I can guarantee is that you'll be better for trying regardless of the outcome.
