This one is going to hit home, Friend, because we high achievers fall into this trap from time to time (maybe even often).
What trap? The trap of "busy". It can make you believe things that aren't true (and are the opposite of what IS true).
"I'm busy, so I must be profitable."
Not so fast!
You can bill 2,000 hours and still not be making money if your realization rate is low, your write-offs are high, or you're spending more than you're bringing in.
"I'm busy, so I must be effective."
Are you?
Or are you busy responding to every email within minutes and saying yes to every request (people-pleasing at the expense of moving the ball forward on the right things)?
"I'm busy, so I must be productive."
You can fill every hour of your day and still not move the needle on what actually matters—whether that's building your book, developing your team, or advancing your career.
Just because you're active doesn't mean you're being productive with that activity. Results (on the right things) are what matter.
[Hint: this is a prioritization issue].
Busy is a feeling. It's visible. It's validating. But it's not a measure of anything that actually matters.
So... What are you busy with right now? Time for a quick reevaluation.
XO,
Heather
