Youth Sports Playing Down
Youth Sports Playing Down Is not Right!
At STACK we pride ourselves on teaching young athletes valuable life lessons through athletics. We believe there is no better place for a child to learn valuable lessons then playing sports. Their are so many different problems with youth sports today.  One of the main problems is in some cases parents can elect to allow their child to "Play up" against competition. This means the player can play at a higher age group that he/she would normally play giving the player more competition if they are much better than their similarly aged peers. This is not the same when a parent decides to do the inverse which is "playing down." Playing down is when a child from a higher age group plays in a lower one, often through falsifying their player documentation. Not only does this go against the rules of most leagues and tournaments but, it is also very unfair to the players.  This might take away playing time from players that are of age due to the fact that this player is more skilled. Luckily, their are some safeguards to preventing this from happening. National Sports ID; a website that keeps a digital record of the ages of players on teams that sign up, ensuring that only players of a correct age are playing in a game. Presidents Day Camp
As we get closer to Presidents day, we look back on our MLK day camp. MLK was awesome, with over 50 plus campers we were able to have an unbelievable day off from school! With Competitive games, drills and contest, there is simply no better way than to spend your day off than to be in the basketball gym getting better and having a blast with your friends. Our coaches are beyond excited and can't wait to share their knowledge with the campers while having fun doing so.
